Psalm 91: The Prayer of Protection Book Review

The Prayer of Protection by Joseph Prince

Joseph Prince’s new book The Prayer of Protection: Living Fearlessly in Dangerous Times is an exceptional testimony on the power of prayer using the 91st Psalm.

Just released by Faith Words, Pastor Prince uses first hand accounts of people whose lives have been influenced and saved by the prayers that have been offered using the words of this Psalm as their inspiration not as a magical incantation or other form of mysticism, but as a faithful foundation of what they know in their hearts has already been accomplished for them by the Blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

Using Hebrew translations of the original writing of David, he shows the depth of meaning in the original verses and just how much we in the modern world are missing when we merely read for information and not transformation as The Lord intends His Word to be used.

Each chapter is a verse by verse breakdown replete with individual accounts of the power of salvation from disease, accidents, death and chaos in a world tormented by an enemy who thrives on stealing our peace.

Furthermore, Pastor Prince goes into great detail in linking the Old Testament protections that would have been understood by the Jews 3,000 years ago when the Psalm was written and the New Testament verses now, that are perfectly consistent with a passionate, intimate walk with our loving Father, who wants nothing but His best for us.

And as if the personal testimonies of current members of his flock weren’t enough, my personal favorites are the numerous examples in Scripture where the verses of Psalm 91 come alive and are demonstrated in each story that is told. Daniel and Nebuchadnezzar, Gideon and his 300 fighting men, and most importantly, Jesus and His intimate moments with Jehovah Shalom, God Our Peace.

After all, To dwell in the Secret Place of the Most High, is the best, most intimate anyone can be with our loving God.

I highly recommend this book as well as The Prayer of Protection Study Guide to anyone seeking to help themselves or others out of situations requiring deeper prayer, and a closer walk with the Lord.  To learn more about The Prayer of Protection visit http://prayerofprotection.com/.
