The Seven Rings is the thrilling conclusion of The Lost Bride Trilogy in on the horizon but I got to read it before it was released. The 3rd book opens with a brief history of Arthur Poole, an ambitious man who made his way in the world of shipbuilding and the master of Lost Brides mansion, where since his death, a bride from every generation lost her life. Their deaths came prematurely by the hand of Hester Dobbs, thanks to her demented desire to be the mistress of the mansion.
The current day story begins with Sonya, our current mistress of the manor, along with her best friend, Cleo, and their boyfriends, Trey and Owen watching Hester's latest hissy fit - watching the death of each of the brides and their spouses. Throughout the book, Hester's power continues to grow and have a farther reach than before. This causes our characters to feel the need to get all of the 7 rings back post-haste.
One of the things that really hit me when reading this book was that Sonya had only been in the house for 6 months when this book opens and so much had already occurred. And by the time the story resolves, a year will not have passed. These are characters that I could read about for at least another trilogy. And don't get me started on how much I love the unalive residents of the mansions, who, in the book, are becoming more visible thanks to Hester's escalation.
I loved this book. I loved the characters. And I'm really sorry that the trilogy is over.
