The Secret to the Sweetest Dreams?
Sustainable Luxury
 from GYS

I recently had the opportunity to collaborate with GYS, who offers premium sleepwear that is high-quality, made from sustainable materials, and looks great. Their pajamas are made from bamboo viscose, a type of rayon made from the cellulose of the bamboo plant, produced by chemically dissolving the bamboo pulp and then spinning it into fibers. This process creates a soft, breathable, and moisture-wicking fabric.

Here's the GYS Premium™ Bamboo Ribbed 3/4 Sleeve Pajama Set.

I received two sets of pajamas:  a two-piece set and a nightgown.  Both were very soft and fit me perfectly.  The arms of both sets stay on my mid-forearm and don't ride up - nice because my arms are always cold. I used the size chart to find the size that fit me perfectly.  I'm 5'6" and these are size large.

I'm a hot sleeper.  Our room temperature is usually around 65 degrees at night, plus we sleep under a sheet, blanket, and a comforter and I was not overheated or too cold at all.  I've been getting some of the best night's sleep I've had in a long time.

I love the decorative features of the pajamas that give them their luxury look.

The pretty lace feature is soft and not scratchy at all.  The material of the pajamas has some give but it holds its shape after several nights of wear and doesn't get overly wrinkled. The stitching is strong and secure.  Even the tags in the neck are comfortable.

The pajama pants have pockets!  I appreciate the wide waistband that stays in place and doesn't roll up.

Some of the benefits of bamboo-made clothing are:
  • Antibacterial Efficacy: Bamboo fiber contains a natural antibacterial agent that disrupts bacterial cell membranes.
  • Odor Reduction: 60% lower odor retention compared to cotton after 48 hours of wear.
  • Breathability: 3.5 times more breathable than cotton, thanks to its porous, oval-shaped fibers.
  • UV Protection: UV penetration rate is 0.6%, 41.7 times lower than cotton.
  • Softness: The fineness of bamboo fiber filaments is comparable to silk and finer than cotton.
The sustainability of making clothing from bamboo makes it an ideal material:
  • Water Consumption: Bamboo fiber production uses 1/20th of the water required for cotton farming.
  • Carbon Sequestration: Bamboo grows at a rapid rate, approximately 6 times faster than trees. Bamboo forests can sequester up to 12 tons of CO2 per hectare annually, while traditional forests typically capture between 3 to 5 tons of CO2 per hectare per year.
  • Degradation Time: Bamboo fiber naturally degrades in soil in about 6 months, making it highly biodegradable compared to synthetic fibers like polyester, which can take over 200 years to degrade.
  • Renewable Resource: Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants in the world, with certain varieties growing up to 91 cm (approximately 36 inches) per day and maturing within 3-5 years, and regenerating without the need for replanting
