The Enduring Word Study Bible is a New King James translation of Scripture with study notes, pastoral application notes, and substantial guides for use featuring the writings of David Guzik. Study notes based on Guzik’s commentary help you to explore the meaning of every chapter of the Bible. Pastoral application notes guide you to live in light of Scripture, and feature articles bring challenging topics into sharper focus.
Before digging into the Bible, however, I would encourage the reader to delve into the Introduction section. This offers the student a good explanation how to use this particular Bible to the greatest effect, while interpreting Old Testament and New Testament in the right ways, without confusion. At key points in the each Book, there are selected sections called “A Sharper Focus” where Guzik explains in much greater detail the meaning of a particular Scripture, and gives it context, tying it to other Books of the Bible.
One of the strengths of the Introduction is a section entitled “Getting to Know God” which, without being overly simplistic describes the necessary things to required to have, and maintain a saved relationship with God, His Son Jesus Christ, and following the leading of the Holy Spirit.
There are substantial commentaries for each page of Scripture which adds detail for those interested in a deeper dive into the Enduring Word, also.
At the end of the Scriptures, there is a separate Concordance with 3,500 words and over 9,200 lines of context within those words to add more substance to the reading. There is also a separate section of Old and New Testament historical maps
To summarize, The Enduring Word Study Bible is fine work for New King James Version afficionados, but is probably not for the new believer or the younger Bible reader, as the NKJV text is, perhaps, a little arcane in this day and age, and the verbiage of the Pastoral Application Notes, and Sharper Focus sections might be a bit much without guidance.
