The Crochet Crowd Book Review

The Crochet Crowd by Michael Sellick and Daniel Zondervan

As a book reviewer and crocheter, I was more than thrilled when the publisher agreed to send me a copy of Mikey and Diva Dan's book to review. It arrived today and I put my WIP (work in progress) down so I could read the whole thing.

The Crochet Crowd is the story of Mikey from the time he learned to crochet, how it got him through the tough times of childhood and adulthood. I really enjoyed getting to know how he ticked. Many followers of Mikey have gotten to know him as that guy who does crochet tutorials on YouTube or who runs the The Crochet Crowd Stitch Social on Facebook. I've been a member of The Crochet Crowd Stitch Social group on Facebook for well over a year now and have seen Mikey but I didn't really know his story. I love his honesty, candor, and his ability to be an open book for those who haven't come to grips with whatever they're dealing with. Crochet has literally saved Mikey's life a time or ten. Much as it has for many of us hookers. And while this book is mostly about Mikey, he is always very careful to extract himself from the center of attention to give everyone a chance. I love that about him!

I honestly love learning about the other admins and testers who make up The Crochet Crowd and that they were introduced with photos in the book. They are the cogs in the wheel that keep The Crochet Crowd train rolling forward.

The all-new patterns by Mikey, Diva Dan, and the rest of the gang in The Crochet Crowd are challenging, beautiful, and are destined to be go-to patterns for crocheters for years to come. I already have my eye on some of them and can't wait to get some free time for personal projects so I can make them.

I highly recommend this book, not just for the patterns, but so you get to know the Mikey and Diva Dan, as well as the other folks who are the foundation for The Crochet Crowd. Reading this book has made me feel a little bit more like a part of The Crowd and I'm already looking forward to the anticipated Book Two.
