Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome in Layman’s Terms Book Review

In my opinion, Autism & Asperger’s Syndrome. Your Guide to Understanding Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, PDD-NOS and Other Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) is probably the most complete work for the layperson available. The author is clear, concise, and very thorough on the topic. It’s a great book for a parent, a loved one, a teacher or other professional, or anyone that wants to know more about autism and its related disorders.

The author lays out the chapters from birth to adulthood; covering topics such as food, toys, living arrangements, medication, therapies, education, and even sexuality. I can’t imagine ever needing another book on the subject, because the author has been so inclusive in this text. Each chapter ends with a summary for the reader. One of the last chapters summarizes the whole book for reference. The author gives many helpful websites at the end of the book. While this book is only 260 pages, you are getting a fabulous reference book.

I will most definitely be recommending this book to my friends that have kids on the spectrum. I think that this book will be known as the ultimate autism reference guide in the future.
